About MTB Trails Australia

Built by riders, for riders. The directory of Australian mountain bike parks, trail networks, and the practical detail you need to plan a ride.

MTB Trails Australia is a directory of mountain bike parks, trail networks, and bike parks across every Australian state and territory. We catalogue the trails, the facilities, and the practical details — drive times, shuttle access, season dates, difficulty mix — that make planning a ride possible.

What you'll find here

  • 200+ park entries — from alpine resorts like Thredbo and Mt Buller to regional networks like Kiwarrak and Tathra, plus urban-access spots from Garigal in Sydney to Plenty Gorge in Melbourne.
  • Trail-by-trail data — names, lengths, and difficulty grades, with GPS polylines on the map view where we have them.
  • Facility detail — shuttles, bike hire, bike wash, skills areas, pump tracks, food, water, parking. The kind of stuff you need to know before you load the ute.
  • Season and access notes — when alpine bike parks open, when fire bans shut things down, when wet-season conditions make some networks unrideable.
  • Ride reports and guides — our blog covers roundups, comparisons, and trip-planning posts (state top-10s, alpine bike park guides, beginner-friendly destinations).

How we gather data

The directory is curated, not scraped. Every park we list has been cross-checked against at least one official source — operator websites, local government parks pages, state-forest and national-park resources, club-published trail maps. Where trail polylines exist on OpenStreetMap, we match them by name and length and surface them on the map view. Where data is missing or stale, we reach out to operators or wait until the canonical source publishes an update before claiming it on our site.

Trail information changes frequently — networks expand, lifts close, fees update, fires and floods reroute or close singletrack. We re-check each park's record on a rolling basis and flag stale ones internally. If you spot something out of date, let us know.

Who runs it

MTB Trails Australia is built and run by an independent rider in Australia. It's a deliberate alternative to operator-funded promotional sites — the directory exists to help riders find their next ride, not to push any one destination.

Get in touch

The directory gets better when riders, operators, and trail-builders contribute. If you've found an error, want a missing park added, run a network you'd like represented accurately, or have feedback on a recent visit — head to the contact page and drop us a line.
